watercolor trio sunset

This is another card we made at my most recent stamp camp. As much as I love using all the new stuff that SU has in their latest catalogs, I have to remind myself that I still have A TON of SU paper and stamps from previous years to be used. =) For this card, I created a "sunset" card, incorporating some retired stamps and DSP and items from the Stampin Up clearance rack.

Stamps: Watercolor Trio (retired); A Word For You
Paper: Confetti White CS; Basic Black CS; Daffodil Delight CS; Close to Cocao DSP (retired)
Ink: Summer Sun (retired); More Mustard; Regal Rose; Basi Black; Soft Suede
Accessories: Big Shot; Top Note Die; Large Oval Punch; 1-1/4" inch circle punch; scallop trim punch; rhinestones; brayer

First I used, I cut the top note with my Big Shot. Then, to achieve the "sunset" look, I punched a circle out of a post it note with my 1 1/4" circle punch (making sure to capture some of the sticky part). I placed the circle down on my paper, then inked my brayer with Summer Sun ink pad. I like to start with the lightest color first, then layer the darker colors first. Then I simply rolled the brayer a couple of times over my paper. After rinsing off the brayer, I repeated this step with my More Mustard and Regal Rose ink pads. I removed the circle post it not that I was using as a mask, and with a sponge dauber, lightly colored the inside of the "sun" by dabbing with Summer Sun classic ink. Viola! Instant sunset!

I then took an image from my Water Color Trio stamp set, inked it with Basic Black ink, and stamped the image onto the paper, then stamped a second time WITHOUT re-inking the stamp, to achieve the lighter image. There is real rhyme or reason in how I stamped my image....I kinda just went with it until I liked how it looked. =)

I stamped my sentiment and punched it out with my oval punch. I sponged the edges with Soft Suede ink. It seemed a little boring to just layer the sentiment as it was, so I decided to layer it over a 1 1/4" circle punched out of Basic Black CS.

For a little sparkle, I added the rhinestones. What do you think?
