fun flowers with punches

Lately, I've been somewhat in a "flowery" mood. When I think of flowers, I think if springtime, and of Mothers Day. Even though it is only March, I am already brainstorming some simple cards to make for Mother's Day. So here is another one I created using the 5 petal flower punch and Boho Blossoms punch

To create the flower seen here, I used my 5-petal flower punch to cut two flowers from Just Add Cake DSP, then layered them on top of each other. I bent the petals a little so it wouldn't be so flat. Then, with the Boho Blossoms punch, I puched 3 of the largest flower - 1 was used as the center for the 5 petal flowers, and the remaining 2 I also layered on top of each other to create a smaller flower.

With the larger flower, I then put a button from the itty bitty buttons pack as firthre embellisment. On the smaller flower, I used on of SU's basic rhinestones.

Card Recipe
Paper: Blushing Bride CS; Confetti White CS; Early Espresso CS; Letters to Santa DSP; Just Add Case DSP; Poppy Parade CS
Stamps: En Francais background stamp; For Frames; Teeny Tiny Wishes; For all you do
Ink: Poppy Parade; Crumb Cake; Early Espresso
Tool: 5 Petal flower punch, Boho Blossoms Punch; Decorative label punch
Accessories: Early Espresso bakers twine; itty bitty buttons, rhinestones

Sweet & Simple Sunday - another button buddies card

It has been raining here in San Diego the last couple days. As much as I love warm, sunny weather, I do also appreciate the occasional rainy day. It gets me in the mood to stay home where it is nice, dry and warm, and play with my stamps! So here is my Sweet & Simple Sunday card project for this week.

Card Recipe
Paper: Tangerine Tango CS; Paisley Petals DSP
Stamps: Button Buddies, Loved Ones
Ink: Early Espresso, Old Olive, Bravo Burgundy, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Early Espresso bakers twine, designer buttons - regal collections, basic pearls

I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but I just love how the Button Buddies stamp set is designed to coordinate perfectly with SU's designer buttons! As you can see here, I just placed the flower shaped designer buttons over the stamped image to add some dimension to the image. For added embellishment, I used SU's basic pearls as the flower center. I also stamped directly onto the piece of Paisley Petals DSP I used.

Happy Stampin Everyone! Have a wonderful week!

Sweet & Simple Sunday with a little bit of Dazzle!

Here is another card perfect for Mother's Day made with the Just Believe stamp set. This is another quick and simple card to make using minimal layers and stamp sets. But I think the simplicity of it is what makes it so gorgeous.

Card Recipe
Paper: Confetti Cream CS, Regal Rose CS
Stamps: Just Believe, Something to Celebrate (from 2011 Occasions Mini)
Ink: Old Olive, Regal Rose
Accessories: Dazzling Details

To add a little pizzaz to my card, but still keeping it simple, I used SU's Dazzling Details to add a little bling to the flowers =) Plus, this card would also make a perfect "thinking of you" or "thank you" card by simply changing the sentiment.

Hope you like it! Happy Stamping!

Beautiful Butterflies Die

Here is a card I am really excited about sharing! I had a sketch envisioned in my head the last few days centering around SU's Beautiful Butterflies die. I was finally able to execute it, and I am rather proud of the finished product =)

Card Recipe
Paper: Peach Parfait CS; Whisper White CS; Soft Suede CS; Pool Party CS; Everday Enchantment DSP (2012 Sale-a-bration)
Stamps: En Francais Background stamp; Something to Celebrate (for inside sentiment)
Ink: Soft Suede
Tools: Big Shot, Perfect Pennants Die; Beautiful Butterflies Die; 1 3/4" circle punch
Accessories: Basic Pearls; 1/8" calypso corral organza ribbon (2012 Sale-a-bration)

Don't you just love the little ribbon tails I added to the butterfly! I used the Calypso Corral 1/8" organza ribbon from the 2012 Sale-A-Bration catalog. Even though I liked the way the buttlerfly looked, I thought it was looking a little plain once I placed it on the card front. I think the ribbon gives it a more whimsical feel! It just goes to show you that ribbon is good for much more than tieing bows!

Since I did not put a sentiment on the front of the card, I decided to stamp it on the inside instead. I used the "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment from the Something to Celebrate stamp set (from the 2011 Occasions Mini catalog). The inside is also decorated with a strip of Everyday Enchantment DSP, as well as with a brad from the Everyday Enchantment pack seen in the 2012 Occasions Mini.

I hope all like this card as much as I do!

Black Magic Technique with Button Buddies

This post features a new (well probably not new to most, but new to me) technique called Black Magic. I hope my written explanation makes sense. If I had a tripod for my FLIP video camera I would totally be posting more how-to videos! Well, here is my card...

I used the Black Magic technique on the stamped image seen here to the right. This technique works best with filled in images - i.e. not outlined only images.

All you need is a stamped image, dark colored cardstock, white craft ink, colored pencils, and a white gel pen. The vase and flower image seen here is from Stampin Up's Button Buddies stamp set. This is a very easy technique to execute and produces beautiful results.

Step 1: Ink your image with white craft ink and on dark colored cardstock. I used Early Espresso CS here.Wait for ink to dry before applying color. tip: You can speed up the drying process with a heat tool.

Step 2: With your colored pencils, begin coloring in the image

This is what my image looked liked when I was done coloring in all the white spaces.

Step 3: When I finished coloring in my image, I added some "highlights" by outlining parts of the image with me white get pen. It helps to really make the image "pop"! Viola! All done!

I ended up adding a little bit more embellishment to the image by using brads to fill in the centers of the flowers.

Card Recipe
Paper: Marina Mist CS; Early Espresso CS; Old Olive CS; Paisley Petals DSP; Confetti White
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes; Button Buddies
Ink: White craft ink; water color pencils; Marina Mist
Accessories: Brads - Brights pack; Early Espresso Bakers Twine
Tools: Scallop Trim Border Punch

Hope you all found my tutorial useful! Happy Stamping!

First Mother's Day card of the season

Even though Mother's Day is not until May, I figured why not get started on a few Mother's Day cards and get the ball rolling!

Card Recipe:
Paper: Cajun Craze CS; Marina Mist CS; Peach Parfait CS; Whisper White CS; Paisley Petals DSP
Stamps: Something to Celebrate, Just Believe
Ink: Marina Mist; Chocolate Chip
Tools: Butterfly punch
Accessories: Basic Rhinestones; Marina Mist Satin Ribbon; Chantilly Lace ribbon

I wanted to make a card that was pretty, yet simple and cheerful. I have been trying to find creative ways to use SU's butterfly punch, so I thought I would use it to add embellishments to my card. I punch three butterflies - 2 from Peach Parfait CS and 1 from Marina Mist CS. So they wouldn't look so plain, I stamped each butterfly with the flower image from the Just Believe stamp set. Lastly, I used SU's rhinestones to create the butterfly bodies. I love how the rhinestones sparkle!

Also, I tried something new with my ribbon....I'm a little disappointed that I didn't think of it earlier. I just layered the Chantilly Lace ribbon over the Marina Mist satin ribbon. A simple technique that I think addes a little bit of variety to the card. This card may look a little complicated, but it actually isn't! Which is great so I can easily reproduce this card and change the sentiment to make suitable for any occassion!

Hope you like it! Happy Stampin!
