And the list it out folks! ...The List of retiring Stampin Up products that is. Hundresd of stamps an accessories from the 2011-2012 cataogs are retiring May 31, 2012, and this is your best chance to get them before they are gone. Many products are only available while supplies last, so be sure to get your orders in early!

When you view the retiring stamps list, you may notice it's longer than in years past. During this transition to the new annual catalog (to be released June 1), there are a higher number of stamps being refreshed and replaced than usual. While many stamps are going away, most are being replaced so that the breadth of our stamp lines is every bit as broad as ever!

Open House Recap and a great big THANK YOU!

Yesterday, I held an open house at my home to introduce the new 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog and the upcoming Sale-A-Bration period (which starts Tuesday Jan. 24th). Open house raffle sneak peek

Here is a peek at one of the raffle prizes that will be up for grabs at my open house this Saturday. It is a set of blank 4x4 notecards with coordinating envelopes.  These cards are great for personalizing with your own special meesage. Attach them to gifts or simply use these to write a note to a friend.

The card base and envelopes are made with Crumb Cake cardstock, and accented with Blueberry Crisp DSP (retired).

Taking Advantage of a Good Sale

Michaels is having a really good sale on picture frames this week....most of them are buy one, get one free. So I just had to take advantage of it and stock up on a bunch of different picture frames. I didn't really go to Michaels with any specific project in mind, but I knew that once I got home with the different frames I would come up with something...and I did! We have this one 8x10 print from our wedding I had tucked away because I hadn't gotten around to displaying it yet. Well, check out what I created using one of the frames I picked up from Michaels this week!

I should have taken a picture of the frame before I dressed it up, but it was just a white frame that already had that tarnished look to it with a white photo mat insert. After I inserted the photo, it still looked to plain to me. So I removed the photo and decided it wouldn't hurt to embellish the photo mat a little bit. I really coudn't help myself!

I used the Baroque Border stampin wheel to create the border and stamped in Soft Suede ink. Then I sponged the edges with more Soft Suede ink to give it more of a vintage feel.  The word "LOVE" was created with Stampin Up chipboard letters sponged with Cherry Cobbler ink.

I used the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die to create the butterfly embellishment. I used Baja Breeze cardstock stamped with the Medallion stamp after cutting the bigger butterfly. Then cut a smaller butterfly out of Glimmer Paper. I added additional accent with basic pearls.

Daring Adventure and Extreme Elements

As the new year approaches, like many people, I can't help but start thinking about some of the goals I want to set for myself for the new year. Besides the usual personal goals (namely, eating better and healthier), one of my stamping goals is to create cards that give off a more masculine for vibe. I think I did a pretty good job doing that with Stampin Up's Daring Adventure and Extreme Elements stamp sets =)

Card Recipe:

Paper: Cajun Craze CS; River Rock, CS; Well Worn DSP

Stamps: Daring Adventure; Extreme Elements

Ink: Not Quite Navy, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, So Saffron

Tools: Distressing Tool, sponge

The Well Worn DSP in the current IB&C is also a perfect way to add character to your masculine cards. For this card, I used the striped pattern of the Well Worn DSP, and layered it over a piece of River Rock CS. It initially looked a little to plain to me, so, to step it up a bit, I first distressed the edges of the River Rock CS with my distressing tool. Then sponged the edges of both the River Rock CS and Well Worn DSP with Early Espresso ink. Lsatly,

 I used images from the Daring Adventure stamp set and stamped directly on my piece of Well Worn DSP using Early Espresso and Not Quite Navy classic ink.

On another piece of River Rock CS, I used some background elements from the Daring Adventure and Extreme Elements sets stamping in Not Quite Navy and So Saffron classic ink. I again distressed the edges and sponged with Early Espresso ink. For the sentiment, I used my Early Espresso and Cajun Craze markers and stamped over the background elements. Then a layered it over a slightly larger peice of River Rock CS to complete the look.

Oct. 22 Stamp Camp Preview

Here is a sneak peak of the cards that we will be making at the upcoming stamp camp on Saturday October 22nd. For details about this class, please check out my previous post.

This is one of the holiday cards we will be making using the Got Treats stamp set and Letters to Santa DSP. We will be using Stampin Up's heat and stick powder and glitter to make the gingerbread man shine!!!

For the second holiday card, we will be using combing SU's simply sent card kit with some holiday rub-ons from SU's clearance rack.
