Love Kites

The weather in San Diego has been bright, warm and sunny lately - perfect weather for kite flying. Though I didn't have time to actually bring myself to the park or beach to fly a kite, I did the next best thing I could think of and created a card using the Send Me Soaring Stamp Set (2012 Sale-a-bration)

Card Recipe
Paper: Island Indigo CS; Pool Party CS; Whisper White CS; Lucky Limeade CS; Bights Patterns DSP Pack (old Olive); Everyday Enchantment DSP (2012 Sale-a-Bration [SAB])
Stamps: Send me Soaring (2012 SAB)
Ink: Calypso Corral; Basic Black
Accessories/Tools: Calypso Corral and Lucky Limeade 1/8" taffeta ribbon (2012 SAB); Large Oval Punch; Scallop Oval Punch; Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; Big Shot

Sweet & Simple Sunday - Pinwheels

I may be "behind the times" with the latest and greatest in stamping, but I feel like Pinwheels are the the newest trend these days. I wanted to experiment with some retired DSP I have and used one of the new SU background stamps to add some quick and easy texture and embellishment.

Card Recipe
Paper: Confetti Cream CS; Early Espresso CS; Blueberry Crisp DSP;
Stamps: Netting background stamp; Bring on the cake Stamp set
Ink: Early Espresso; Not Quite Navy
Accessories/Tools: Night of Navy 1/4" grossgrain ribbon (retired); Antique brads; 3/16" neutrals brads; Designer Label Punch

One can never have enough birthday cards on hand I say. For this week's sweet & simple Sunday card project, I pulled out a stamp set I hadn't used in awhile - Create a Cupcake.  To make the colors stand out, I put it all against a Whisper White background.

Card Recipe
Paper: Whisper White CS; Just Add Cake DSP
Stamps: Create a Cupcake
Ink: Marina Mist; Lucky Limeade; Island Indigo; Poppy Parade
Tools: Cupcake Builder Punch
Accessories: Poppy Parade Poly stitched ribbon; Everyday Enchantment Brads

Have a great week everyone! Don't forget - the retired stamps list is out and the new catalog will be released on June 1st!

Sweet & Simple Sunday

Hi Everyone, I apologize for having skipped last weekend's Sweet & Simple Sunday post, and for not having posted much over the last week or so. I have been feeling a little under the weather, and the new job has had me working longer more than before =) All positive changes, but definitely still getting used to not being able to stamp every night like I used to.

Anyhow, here is this week's Sweet & Simple Sunday Card Project. One can never have enough birthday cards on hand if you ask me!

I recently acquired the Petite Penants punch, which is quickly becoming another favorite of mine! Oh who am I kidding....I love it all! hahah. I was able to use a lot of DSP scraps also to make this card, which is great!

Card Recipe:
Paper: Pacific Point CS; Whisper White CS; Just Add Cake DSP
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise
Stamps: Party This Way; Bring on the Cake
Accessories: Island Indigo bakers twine
Tools: Petite Penants punch

Sweet & Simple Sunday - Extreme Elements and Bring on the Cake

Sunday Sunday Sunday! Time for another sweet & simple project.

This card only uses two stamp sets - Stampin Up's Extreme Elements stamp set and Bring on the Cake stamp set. I love the Extreme Elements set because it is perfect for making your own fun background!

Card Recipe
Paper: Peach Parfait CS; Whisper White CS; Everyday Enchantment DSP;
Stamps: Extreme Elements; Bring on the Cake
Ink: Pool Party; Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Soft Suede, Early Espresso
Accessories: Brads - Neutrals
Tools: Distressing tool; sponges; paper piercing tool & mat pack
Creating the background here was really easy. I just stamped the different images from the Extreme Elements set in different colors and randomly on my piece of Whisper White CS. I knew I wanted to use the bog splotchy image as the focal point, so I stamped the other elements only along the edges. Then I "distressed" the edge of the Whisper White card stock with the distressing tool from SU's Cutter Kit. Lastly, I sponged the edges with my sponge and Soft Suede Classic ink.

The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from the Bring on the Cake stamp set. I simply inked it with Early Espresso classic ink and stamped over the Lucky Limeade splotch. Layering stamped images over each other is a super simple technique that can be used anytime! It works great with stamp sets like Extreme Elements.  I used some pretty neutral colors for this card, which also puts it in the masculine card category. Since the front of the card was so easy to make, I decided to put something inside the card as well.

Again, I used images from the Extreme Elements set to make a coordinating background. The inside sentiment is also from the Bring on the Cake set.

Simple and Easy...perfect for a Sunday morning!

Easy Events Happy Birthday

This past week has been pretty crazy for me...but in a good way. I've just been a little bit busier than usual - hence I've only been able to put up a new post tonight. Anyhow, so here is the card project I have for tonight.

Card Recipe:
Paper: Peach Parfait CS; Bashful Blue CS; Whisper White CS; Just Add Cake DSP
Stamps: Easy Events; Sanded background stamp
Ink: Markers - Crumb Cake; Bashful Blue, Peach Parfait
Tools: Big Shot; Circles #2 Die
Accessories: Poppy Parade polly-stiched ribbon; Everyday Enchantment Brads (2012 sale-a-bration)

I love all of the stamps Stampin Up has to offer! As a project for myself, and to show people all the types of cards and projects you can create with SU, I decided to dedicate the next several projects to focusing on the images in a specific stamp set - in this case the Easy Events Stamp Set  (wood - 116958; clear - 123225)

This stamp set is particularly awesome because it pretty much has a stamp to fit every occasion!

So stay tuned! The next card will be a perfect one "for baby" *wink*wink*

Celebrate! It's your day

Sorry if i have been MIA the last few days. I spent the last couple of days in Florida for my cousin's wedding. =) It was oh so much fun! But I'm back home and it's time to get back to stampin business! The card featured here used both retired and current items. One of the new items I use here is the Outlined Expressions stamp set from the upcoming Sale-A-Bration period (begining January 24).

I also used the Paper Doily large sizzlit from the current 2012 Occassions Mini catalog as part of my background.

Card Recipe
Paper: Pacific Point CS, Confetti White CS; Blueberry Crisp DSP (retired)
Stamps: Create a Cupcake, Outlined Occasions
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Blushing Bride
Tools: Cupcake Builder punch; 1 3/4" circle punch; Paper Doily large sizzlit die
Accessories: So Saffron 1/8" ribbon, Brights collection Brads

Bring on the Cake card

My godson recently celebrating his 4th birthday! I wasn't to creative with the gift wrapping (I jsut put his gift in a plain ol' giftbag), but I had to get creative and break in my "Bring on the Cake" Stamp set. I feel like I can never really have enough birthday cards on hand, so I know I will be making good use of this stamp set! This stamp set contains 13 different sentiments that can be used for birthdays, and other occasions.

I thought the sentiments with all the numbers would be great so I  could highlight the number 4 since he turned 4 years old. I actually combined to stamps from the "Bring on the Cake" stamp set. The word "birthday" was from a different image that I simply inked with a marker!

Card Recipe:
Paper: Peach Parfait CS; Confetti White CS; Just Add Cake DSP;
Stamps: Bring on the Cake
Ink: Peach Parfait, Wild Wisabi, Poppy Parade
Accessories: Daffodil Delight Striped Ribbon, Designer buttons - subtles, twine
Tools: 1/2" circle punch

Additional products (including punches, dies, designer series paper, ribbon and more!) are being added to the Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack with some discounted up to 80 percent! These great deals are only available when you purchase on-line and while supplies last.

Quick and Easy Card with You're My Type

Here is aother card I created using the new You're My Type stamp set from the 2012 Occasions Mini. The image and sentiments from this stamp are simple - making it a perfect tool for creating cards suitable for any person and for any occasion!

I think the little typewriter guy is some cute! Plus, it is a large enough image to the focal point of my card so all I need to do is add embellisments! For this card, I used some simple embellisments - layering on basic gray cardstock, accenting with my decorative label punch, and adding texture with my stripes embossing folder. Easy peezy!

Card Recipe
Paper: Baja Breeze CS; Basic Gray CS; Confetti White CS
Ink: Basic Black
Stamps: You're My Type
Tools: Big Shot, Stripes Embossing Folder, Decorative Label Punch

I felt the need to pull out one of my favorite stamp sets (which is now unfortunately retired)...the Sock Monkey!!! Isn't he such a cutie! I stamped him on a piece of polka dot Close to Cocoa DSP (retired), and cut him out. I stamped a second image on a piece of Confetti White CS and cut the pieces out to past on the Close to Cocoa imags.

Stamps: Sock Monkey (retired); Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Bashful Blue CS, Wild Wasabi CS, Confetti White CS, Bights DSP Stack, Close to Cocoa DSP (retired)
Ink: Marina Mist, Many Marvelous Markers
Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Oval Scallop Punch, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch

Then I decided to create a thought bubble using my scallop oval punch and itty bitty punch set.
