gift baskets to welcome baby

Several weeks ago, I was asked to put together some baby gift baskets for co-workers. My fellow co-workers supplies all the lovely gifts and trinkets to go inside of the basket, and all I had to do was put it all together in a cute package. Here are photos of what I came up with:

For the yellow basket on the let, I used Stampin Up Simple Letters Alphabet, some retired DSP from the SU Clearance Rack, and my Big Shot to cut out the phrase "oh baby." With a little hot glue, I adhered it to the side of the bucket. I was able to get a large gift basket "bag" from Michaels and tied the top with SU's 1 1/4" stripped ribbon in Daffodil Delight (retired).

For the pink basket on the right, I pulled out my Cricut! With the Stretch the Imagination cartridge, I cut out the baby image. The letters were cut using my Winnie the Pooh Cricut cartridge. And with my handy dandy hot gun, I was able to adhere everything to the basket with ease! Then I wrapped everything up with a some shrink wrap.  I really liked how the front turned out, so here is a close up photo =)

I used some SU cardstock and embellishments for this one as well. The baby image was cut using SU retired Blush Blossom, Cameo Corral (retired), and Basic Gray cardstock. I used my SU Blush Blossom marker to color in the baby's cheeks, and SU's 1/8" Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon and everyday enchantment brads for some embellishment. For the letters, I used SU's Basic Gray cardstock and some miscellaneous cardstock I had stashed away.

Have a great week everyone!!!

Celebrate - It's a Boy!

Here is a card I made for my friend's baby shower. What boy does not enjoy playing with trucks and such things! When I found out she was having a boy, I immediately knew I wanted to make something using the "I Dig You" Stamp Set. The "celebrate" sentiment is from a retired stamp set, and the "it's a boy" sentiment is from the dollar bin at Micheals =)

Card Recipe
Paper: Daffodil Delight; Whisper White CS; Just Add Cake DSP
Stamps: I Dig You, Something to Celebrate (retired), miscellaneous stamp
Ink: Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Basic Gray
Tools: Create a Cupcake punch (for clouds)

Sweet & Simple Sunday - Party Projects

This past weekend was pretty jam packed with baby showers and birthday parties, so instead of the usual Sweet & Simple Sunday card project, I wanted to showcase some of the items used to decorate and liven up my girlfriend's baby shower. I helped out by creating the party favors and cupcake toppers. The first photo below is a picture of the dessert table my god sister put together for her sister's baby shower.

Isn't her set up just the best?! She bought these oh so delicious cupcakes, created mini smores desserts in mini shot glasses, chocolate cookies shaped in mustaches, and brought in beautiful flowers to accent the table! Everything looked great!

I created the mini milk carton party favors using Stampin Up's Mini Milk Carton die and my Big Shot. I alternated between So Saffron, Wild Wasabi, and Marina Mist card stock for the cartons, then decorated them with Just Add Cake DSP. For added embellishment, I used the My Digital Software, Little Additions digital brush set, and Many Mustaches digital brush set to print out the images to stick on the front of the cartons. Finally, I used Stampin Up's mini clothespins to hold one end of the mini milk cartons together.

I also used MDS to create the mustache cupcake toppers. After printing it on Marina Mist CS, I punched the images out with my 1 1/4" circle punch, and layered it on a piece of Just Add Cake DSP punched with my scallop square punch. I then used my hot glue gun to adhere the toothpick to the back.

In addition to the dessert table, my aunt labored in the kitchen and satisfied our appetites with homemade mac n' cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, sliders, french fries, and some other awesome goodies!

My First "Hybrid" Card

So some of you may be wondering what I mean when I say this is my first "hybrid" card. Well, what I mean by hybrid is that it is a card made in part by using Stampun Up's My Digital Studio (MDS) software.  A friend asked me to make a card to welcome a new baby girl. I have the Little Additions digital brush set, and figured this would be a great chance for me to use it.

I designed the card front with MDS, and printed it out at home. Then I mounted it on SU cardstock and used some ribbon and buttons to add a little more flare. I also hand stamped the little hearts too!

Card Recipe:
Paper: Blushing Bride CS; Early Espresso CS; Whisper White CS; Just Add Cake DSP
Ink: Poppy Parade; Soft Suede; Blushing Bride
Stamps: Little Additions digital brush set
Accessories: Blushing Bride poly-stiched ribbon, early espresso bakers twin; designer buttons-subtles collection

Easy Events Card Project 2 - For Baby

For my next card project focusing on the Easy Events Stamp Set, I used the "for baby" stamp.  This card was also quick and simple to make, and my color combination was inspired by the Just Add Cake DSP.

Card Recipe:
Paper: Whisper White CS; Blushing Bride CS; Baja Breeze CS; Just Add Cake DSP
Stamps: Easy Events
Ink: Many Marvelous Markers
Tools: Big Shot; Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; Perfect Pennants Die; Circles #2 Die
Accessories: Whisper White Organza Ribbon; Glimmer Brads - Basic

Another reason I love the Easy Events stamp set is because it gives me a really good excuse to do some coloring - whether with my aquapainter or with my markers, it makes me feel like a kid with a coloring book =) I added color to this little ducky using So Saffron, Peach Parfait, Baja Breeze, and Bashful Blue markers.  I also think that the whisper white organza ribbon adds an extra soft touch to it.

Hope you like it!

Hey Baby!

A close friend of mine just had her second baby and I know quite a few others who are pregnant right now. With all the baby fever going around, I decided it was time for me to make some cards to welcome these new bundles of joy! I made two variations of the same card - one for a boy and one for a girl

Card Recipe
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight DSP from Brights Paper Pack; Whisper White
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip
Stamps: Button Buddies, Something to Celebrate
Accessories: Designer buttons (Subtles)
Tools: Lace Border Punch; 1" circle punch

For the boy version of the card, I used Marina Mist for the card base, Daffodil Delight DSP for the first layer, and Old Olive DSP (also from the Brights DSP Paper Pack) for the lace border. The rattles were stamped in Marina Mist ink and embellished with coordinating buttons from SU's Designer Buttons Subtles pack. I absolutely love how all of Stampin Up's stuff coordinates so well together!

For Baby

A card perfect for welcoming a new baby. I used SU's Bashful Blue, Early Espresso, and Certainly Celery CS. The carseat image is a non-SU product. The stripes on the base of card was created with the Big Shot and SU's Stripes Embossing Folder.

The inside of the card says "Congratulations" adorned in glitter. The bottom of the page is embellished with a strip of Early Espresso CS, Certainly Celery 1/4" grossgrain ribbon, and a strip of Certainly Celery CS punched using SU's Scallop Trim Border Punch.

Easy Events - Hello Baby

Stamps: Easy Events; Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel
Paper: Certainly Celery CS; So Saffron CS; Real Red CS; Confetti White CS
Ink: Chocolate Chip; watercolor crayons
Accessories: buttons; stampin around wheel guide; aqua painter

I colored in the image using my aqua painter and watercolor wonder crayons. Those crayons are fabulous! However, I think I may need to work on my blending technique a little bit more. But I still like how it turned out!

Here is what the inside of the card looks like. I found some cute polka dotted red paper in my scrap bin, and added a yellow trim punched with the scallop trim punch.
